A video of Lebanese pop star Elissa singing along to hit Arabic song “3 Daqat” on the first-ever episode of the show “Carpool Karaoke Arabia” has gone viral after it was posted online this week.

The show, which is hosted by Saudi singer Hisham Al-Howaish, is set to feature Arab performers who sing along to well-known hits as the host drives them around town. It is the Arabic-language version of “Carpool Karaoke,” which features on British TV celebrity James Corden’s hit US show.

Fans went wild on social media over Elissa’s rendition of “3 Daqat” by Egyptian singer Abu featuring Yousra — a song that has already proved wildly popular across the Arab world.

The video, in which Elissa flies in on a helicopter before being driven around by the host, was posted on the official social media pages of Carpool Karaoke in Arabic and drew hundreds of excited comments.

“Carpool karaoke Arabia with (Elissa) is one of the best Arabic TV shows I’ve seen in a while. Pure entertainment, fun and wit. The team has done a good job … Arabizing it,” one Twitter user said.

The Lebanese singer sang several songs with the presenter, including her song “Law” and “La ‘Ayoun” by Gulf artist Rashed Al-Majid.

Earlier this month, James Corden himself invited fans to watch the Arabic version of the show in a video tweeted by @CarpoolKaraokeArabia.

“I’m truly excited to tell you that your own version of Carpool Karaoke is coming to the Middle East. Take a ride and sing with your favorite stars on Carpool Karaoke Arabia,” he said.

The show is featured on Dubai TV and music fans cannot wait to see what — or who — else will appear.

Film buffs all around Egypt are getting ready for the second edition of Sharm El-Sheikh’s Arab and European Film Festival, which will kick off from March 3, lasting until March 9 in the Red Sea city.

Organized by the Noon Foundation for Arts and Culture, Gamal Zeyada has been chosen as the festival’s executive president, while veteran actress Leila Elwy has been selected as the festival’s honorary president, in recognition of her illustrious cinematic career.

This year, the festival has chosen to honor one of Egypt’s most esteemed directors Ali Badrakhan, in addition to legendary actress Leila Taher and actor Hassan Hosny.

As for the theme of the festival, it will focus on independent American cinema. Several seminars will be held on the subject, including one hosted by a yet-unnamed famous American film director.

One of the festival’s highlights is a competition in which 42 films from all around the world will compete in different categories, including feature-length narratives, documentaries, short films, and animated films.

These films will compete in two series of jury award competitions: an official Out-of-Selection Programme, and the Festival Honours awards.

Another 12 films will compete in the Long Film Competition, while short films will compete for the Short Film Competition prize. Meanwhile, a further 12 feature films will be screened in the Panorama Program (official Out-of-Competition Program).

The week-long festival will screen a total of 74 films in addition to hosting a range of cultural events, including panorama and entertainment events. Moreover, a special celebration will take place on March 8 to honor International Women’s Day.

The festival aims to be a cultural hub for both Arab and international films, and to encourage cultural dialogue through movies. The Noon Foundation aims to open channels of exchange in all cultural and artistic fields between Egypt and the world, and to disseminate better knowledge of the other through the organization of cultural and cinematic events in Egypt and other countries.

2017 marked the launch of the first edition of the festival, where film critic Ahmed Hassouna served as the artistic director of the festival. The festival was headed by Mohamed Kamel al-Qaliouby.

The festival ran between March 5-11 and screened 28 short and feature films. Several esteemed guests attended the festival, including Czech director Jiří Menzel, Mofeed Fawzy, Omar Zahran, Soher Shalaby, and the Danish Prince Henrik, among others. A total of 11 short films – six of which were 6 Egyptian – were screened during the festival. The festival honored several cinema figures, such as late actor al-Qaliuby, Czech director Menzel, and Egyptian actress Nabila Ebeid.

Rita Ora and Liam Payne will perform a duet of their song ‘For You’ at the BRITs.

The pair recorded the hit for the erotic drama ‘Fifty Shades Freed’, and during a Q&A on Twitter two days ahead of the awards, the 27-year-old beauty surprised her fans by inviting her collaborator to perform at the glitzy ceremony at London’s The O2 arena on Wednesday (21.02.18).

She wrote: “Hey Liam Payne, fancy joining me on stage at The Brits 2018?”

The ‘Strip That Down’ hitmaker immediately replied: “Well hi there Rita! Yes I suppose I can come and join you on stage for a little bit. So I’ll see you on Wednesday I guess! (sic)”

And the thrilled ‘Anywhere’ singer added: “So excited to have Liam Payne join my BRITs performance!”

The pair’s announcement comes as it’s reported hip-hop megastar Kendrick Lamar – who is nominated for International Male Solo Artist – is set to perform at the bash.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Having Kendrick on the line-up will be a big step in making the ceremony more diverse.”

Rita and Liam’s duet is not the only one happening either, as Rag’n’Bone Man – real name Rory Graham – and 2018’s Critics’ Choice winner Jorja Smith are also set to perform together, though it’s not known whether it will be an original song or cover.

On the announcement, Jorja – who will make history as the first winner of the rising star accolade to perform in the same year as picking up the coveted award – said: “I can’t believe I’ll be performing at The BRIT Awards. Rag’n’Bone Man has had an incredible year and is such a crazy talent. When he asked me at the end of last year to perform I was so happy as it’s a real honour to be sharing the stage with him.”

After picking up the prize, Rory’s debut album ‘Human’ went straight to number one, achieving the fastest selling UK male debut of the decade and selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

They follow in the footsteps of the likes of Adele, Emeli Sandé and Sam Smith by receiving the honour.

Other artists set to perform tomorrow night include Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Foo Fighters.
